Hallowalking

It’s a great time to go walking in and around Royal Oak. The trees are covered with brilliantly-covered leaves and the temperatures are ideal for a brisk walk or a leisurely jog. So, get out there before it’s time to start thinking about Michigan’s winter sports!

Some of our house-bound neighbors have put a great deal of creativity and effort into their festive Halloween displays. From spooky skulls to twinkling orange lights (these are veering a little too close to Christmas lights for comfort this early in the season. . .) to GIANT spiders in the shrubbery, the décor ranges from corny to creepy.

Click the following link to view a four-mile walk (or jog) which begins at 310 West Sixth Street (Urbane on Washington), cuts over to Woodward into Huntington Woods, winds past the Detroit Zoo and the Rackham golf course before taking you through some picturesque neighborhoods, back to Woodward, and into Royal Oak again. It’s an interesting janut that features everything from restaurants to cathedrals, lemurs and camels (not kidding) to golden retrievers, and mansions to bungalows, with a BP gas station along the way. (Feel free to create your own favorite walking/ running route with this website and leave it in the comments for other readers.)
