Stuff to Do: Autumn Wine & Crepe Tasting

Two of our favorite Royal Oak businesses — Cloverleaf Wine and What Crepe? — have a lot of things in common. They are locally owned. They are located in cool spaces near the railroad. They are focused on providing great products and first-rate customer service. And now they’re teaming up to put on a charity wine and crepe tasting.
The event, which will be held this Friday, September 25th from 7:00 to 10:00 pm, features “excellent French and German wines” and sweet and savory crepes prepared on-site. They’re holding the tasting in the historic St. Clair Edison Building at 711 S. Main Street in downtown Royal Oak. According to my local sources, this building was originally a power station for the street cars that rolled along to Detroit before later becoming a feed store and now the home of Cloverleaf Wine which is, appropriately, in the cellar. It’s a beautiful space (and hopefully the future site of a wine bar to give Vinotecca a bit of competition?).
More on this event — including how to buy tickets — after the jump.

Tickets are going for $45, with $10 of that price going to the Michael Chetcuti Foundation which benefits local charities (hopefully we can nail this down further — I’ve reached out to Cloverleaf and What Crepe? for more detail as I couldn’t find a website for this foundation). You can pick up tickets at Cloverleaf or order them over the phone at (248) 399-7166.
They’ll be pouring wines including a 2007 Vieux Telegraph Chateauneuf du Pape (which retails around $75) and a 2007 Domaine Tempier Bandol, pairing both with tasty crepes, of course.
If you get a chance to attend, or have anything naughty or nice to say about either of these local businesses, please do so in the comments below.
