Stuff to Do: Thursday Nights @ Salon 6

One of the great parts about living and playing in and around Royal Oak is that it has a strong contingent of local businesses that like to have fun — whether that be sampling crepes and wine, making special chocolate treats, or serving the best damned Laos/Thai food in the state.

Salon 6, located in the same building as Urbane on Washington, knows how to make a trek to get your hair did a treat.  Every Thursday, the crew at Salon 6 in Royal Oak stays open til midnight and offers its clients a smoke-free club-like scene that makes a $36 haircut seem like a bargain.  They put out a spread of snacks, offer you a glass of wine, and have a DJ playing the hits.  And the staff seems to really get into it and enjoy themselves as well.

A few more photos, and a few more details, after the jump . . .

Salon 6 is located at the corner of Washington and Sixth in downtown Royal Oak.  They’re open from 9 am to 9 pm, M/T/W/F and until midnight on Thursdays.  Saturday 9 am to 5 pm, closed on Sunday.  They’ve got free wifi while you’re waiting, and their products and “tools” are 20% off on the 6th of every month.

The salon staff have varying skill levels and personality — and the management is great about helping you to find a “match.”  Salon 6 also is one of the best spots in the city for some fabulous people-watching.

A healthy little spread.

A healthy little spread.

There is amazing people-watching here — for peeps of all persuasions. A glass of wine helps to make for a friendly, chatty atmosphere as well!
