Turkey Trot/Thanksgiving day Parade!!!

As part of this years Thanksgiving festivities, cooking, getting together with loved ones, and stuffing our faces, why not add a little outdoor activity to the mix and get involved with the 26th Annual Fifth Third Bank Turkey Trot in Downtown Detroit.  It is the largest 10k run in Michigan to kick off the Thanksgiving day parade, and sure to be quite a colorful sight with all the many creative costumes worn by many of the runners themselves!

The fun begins at 7:30am this Thursday November 27th, and there will be a 10k and 5k turkey trot and also the mashed potato mile. Whether you are running in the race or standing on the side lines with a hot cup of cocoa it’s sure to be a great time!  For more information, or to register for the race go to

Hmm sounds like fun!! I definitely know I won’t be running, but I may have to stop by and see everybody else running.

    Hey Monica,
Great Post, and perhaps some inspiration. I am ready to do a program to start training to be able to actually participate in next years turkey trot. Are you willing to lay out a program, maybe help out some others with a challenge of getting healthy?

I am ready when you are, BTW readers, did you know Monica was a Personal Trainer? Well, watch my progress herein to see the results of her efforts, and mine!

    Hi Monica,
I am ready and I love the idea of an Urbane Boot Camp. We will donate you some space, either at our office, a model or a vacant unit to kick this off if that is helpful. I am open to publicizing my results if that is helpful to spurring someone else toward a more healthy lifestyle.

    Lets get this party started!

YESSS!!!! I am all for it, let’s get this going:) Having a goal such as a marathon, competition, or even a new pair of jeans to get into is a great motivator especially in these gloomy days…. I would love to help you and others to get on a healthy regimen (not temporary but for a life change) that will have you feeling more energetic, healthy, and happy! Urbane Bootcamp let’s do it!

We should think about some kind of “Biggest Loser” competition in Royal Oak — sponsored in part by Urbane + maybe a local gym or other partners in the community.

I love both ideas Brandon and Eric, and have just the place in mind in royal oak to sponsor it (actually have a few in mind) group training is my specialty and I take it very seriously, workout regimen, diet, the works….lets do it! We can put something out to see if urbane residents wanna get involved, and then maybe do a giveaway to the urbane biggest loser thoughts? lets discuss at our “retreat”:)
