The football season is winding down, we’re into the playoffs and on our way to the Super Bowl. While your team might be out of the running, there are still reasons to enjoy the rest of the season. Football means time with friends and family over delicious (and often unhealthy) food, and plenty of cold (and often alcoholic) beverages. So instead of grieving your teams loss, celebrate the rest of the season with these tailgating recipes. We’ve picked out 5 tailgating recipes for game day that will knock your socks off!

1. Get cheesy with Macaroni and Cheese Cupcakes!

This ooey-gooey treat comes from Spoon University and is a treat that kids and adults will both love chowing down on.

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Servings: 12 ‘cupcakes’

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz. elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • Seasoned breadcrumbs

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • Line a 12-cup cupcake tin with cupcake liners.
  • Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and add macaroni. Let noodles boil for 6-8 minutes.
  • Drain water and return cooked macaroni to the pot.
  • Add cheese and mix until cheese is melted.
  • Mix the eggs and the milk together, and pour into cheesy macaroni mixture.
  • Scoop mixture into muffin tins and sprinkle with more cheese and breadcrumbs.
  • Bake for 20 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
  • Let cool slightly and enjoy!

2. Enjoy a bite of pizza with Pepperoni Pizza Rolls

We found an easy tutorial for Pepperoni Pizza Rolls from Sally’s Baking Addiction and it is a great snack for any football party. We also think you can get creative with the filling and add different pizza toppings like mushrooms, peppers, pineapple and more!


 3. Sip on Winter Sangria

We found this delicious recipe for Winter Sangria from The Food Network and we think it is a great, fruity beverage to sip on game day.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups no-pulp orange juice
  • 3 to 6 ounces orange liqueur
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 blood oranges or clementines, supremed
  • 1 Anjou (red) pear, peeled, cored and chopped into 1/4-inch cubes
  • 2 liters sweet sparkling red wine, chilled (recommended: Rosa Regale)
  • 1 liter lemon lime soda, chilled
  • 1 Granny Smith apple (or other tart apple), cored and chopped into 1/4-inch cubes

Directions:

  • In a large pitcher or punch bowl, whisk together orange juice, orange liqueur and honey.
  • Add cinnamon stick, blood oranges, apple and pears, stir to combine.
  • Set aside at room temperature to macerate, at least 1 hour, until ready to serve.
  • Add wine and soda, stir gently to combine, and serve immediately over ice.

4. Get Spicy with Loaded Crock Pot Carne Asada Tacos

There’s nothing we love more than easy crock pot recipes! We found this recipe for Loaded Crock Pot Carne Asada Tacos from Half Baked Harvest. This recipe is a bit more complicated and has more steps than the others, but the pay off is huge.


5. Satisfy your comfort food cravings with Bacon Wrapped Tater Bombs

YUM! This recipe from Damn Delicious combines two things we love: bacon and tater tots, so how could we pass this up? The recipe is pretty straight forward and promises to be a crowd pleaser at any football party!

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Total Time: 40 minutes
Ingredients:

  • 2 cups frozen tater tots, at room temperature
  • 1 ounce sharp cheddar cheese, cut into 1/4-inch squares
  • 4 slices bacon, quartered
  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley leaves

Instructions:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat; set aside.
  • Working one at a time, wrap each tater tot and cheese square in a piece of bacon. Repeat with remaining tater tots, cheese squares and bacon pieces. Dredge each tater tot in the brown sugar, pressing to coat.
  • Place tater tots seam side down onto the prepared baking sheet. Place into oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, using metal tongs to turn at halftime.
  • Serve immediately, garnished with parsley, if desired.
