*Okay, three: Arts Beats & Eats, Jazz Fest, and the Hamtramck Labor Day Festival. But still, that’s A LOT of great music in three different cities. It’s not like we can teleport . . . yet.

Funky Ferndale Art Fair
What is Funky Art? Art that doesn’t just sit there and look pretty. Yes, there will be traditional paintings but the focus of this show is on work you may not see at other events. The festival is a juried show, over 300 artists from across the country applied for the 120 open spots. (via Michigan Art Shows)

Scrummage Fest 2012
The festival starts on Friday night at PJ’s Lager House. From 11 a.m. on Saturday, it will be at the Imagination Station, then on Saturday night it moves to the Leland Hotel Ballroom, connected to City Club. Lauer says that the aim is to bring a bunch of different people together from different scenes, just like any other festival. “We just put our own take on it,” he says. “We have a showcase of film, art, music and installations” (via the Metrotimes)
