If you haven’t tried mead yet, Ferndale’s own meadery, B. Nektar Meadery, has a fun event to discover some of the great things they do with honey wine.
Mead Fest will give guests a chance to sample B. Nektar’s traditional honey meads made with orange blossom, wildflower and wildberry honeys, but also their specially flavored meads, which will include, but will not be exclusive to:
- Dark Dark Goose (coffee mead, aged in bourbon barrels, then aged in Goose Island Bourbon County Stout barrels)
- The Sleeping Giant (wildflower mead aged in Rye Whiskey barrels – 19.5% ABV)
- Arnold Palmer (black tea mead made with fresh lemon juice – served on draft only – no bottles available for sale)
- Hopped Zombie Killer (Draft-only release of a dry-hopped version of the Zombie Killer)
This won’t be just any ordinary sampling. The folks at B. Nektar will also be bringing out their Mead Fest-only releases, putting on meadmaking demonstrations, bringing in food trucks to provide some good eats with good mead, and live music by Chaw, Johnny Ill Band, Stone Clover. Best of all, it’s free, although it will be hard to walk out empty-handed.
The fun runs between 2 and 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, which gives plenty of time to sample your honey wine with your honey (or friends) at places like MiChiGo Pizza and Pete’s Place in Ferndale that allow diners to bring in and enjoy their own bottle.
B. Nektar Meadery is located at 1505 Jarvis, Suite B, in Ferndale.
