Mineral and Heat Wraps are so en vogue right now. Not to mention they are touted as a quick weight loss trick with health and wellness benefits. I put the beauty treatment to the test and was ultimately surprised.
I ventured out to The New You Body Wraps and Wellness Center to see for myself what the fuss was all about and chose this particular spa for their all natural, organic Skin & Tonic product line developed by the owner Lisa Jendza, owner of The New You Body Wraps and creator of the new skin care line Skin & Tonic.
The session began with a mini-workout, 10 minutes on a power plate which is a giant shake weight that professional athletes use during training, but that is a story for another day. Once my muscles were warm I headed into the Far Infrared Sauna room for a quick massage with the organic Skin & Tonic products. The organic Tonique, made with a whole aloe leaf base is created with herbs known for aiding in detoxification and will induce greater perspiration. The contouring creme is full of beneficial ingredients without the sweat factor – perfect for all day wear.
After the massage I was ready to sweat. The heat wrap is a horizontal treatment in which I was enveloped in a Far Infrared Sauna Blanket and began to sweat for about 45 minutes, during which The New You gives you a facial – a little pampering to ease the pain.
Once my body was detoxed it was time to replenish with a mineral wrap. The ladies began to wrap me from head to toe in ace bandages that are presoaked in alkaline water and re-soaked periodically to adequately replenish the body with water and minerals. I was mummified for an hour while I switched from the sauna to the gazelle machine, you are supposed to move continuously, all the while I discussed the various benefits of continuous wrapping and learned just how Lisa and her team got into this business.
“I began coming to The New You Body Wraps for my own health and wellness years ago and found I never wanted to leave,” said Lisa. “Then I turned it into a platform to help other people.”
Lisa regaled me with stories of her previously toxic lifestyle and how positive energy helped her reinvent herself. We discussed current clients (anonymously of course) whose symptoms of things like gastrointestinal illnesses to sinusitis and constant fatigue seemed to clear up with regular wrapping, but I wasn’t sold just yet.
As I was unwrapped and the measurements were taken the grand total of inches lost was 21. Don’t believe me? My inch card is below. I still thought to myself I don’t look any different and honestly didn’t feel any different…until I arrived home. I walked in the door and my better half immediately stated, “There’s nothing left of you, that stuff really works.” Then I realized how great I felt, I had tons of energy. So much energy that my better half said, “Why don’t you run around the neighborhood a few times?” The next morning I awoke and my clothes fit a little less snug as well. All good things for summer.
