Built in 1928, the Royal Oak Music Theatre started out as a grand movie house typical of its era. Though it still hosts the occasional movie, the Royal Oak Music Theatre is now known for much, much more. Comedy nights, private parties, heck, even boxing routinely draws big crowds. What it’s really known for, though, is all in the name. Let’s take a look at what will have concert-goers lining up on 4th Street and wrapping around the block this August.
Would you consider the band Gloriana new country, young country, country pop, country, or pop? Yes. Detroit’s 99.5 WYCD is sponsoring the show, with Lauren Duski and Russell Dickerson in support. Winners of an American Music Award, CMT Music Award, and Academy of Country Music Award, the band scored a hit with ‘Wild at Heart’. Wikipedia fact: “Before the band’s foundation, [Cheyenne] Kimball was the 2002 winner of the competition America’s Most Talented Kid and a solo artist on Epic Records.”

The Sugar Hiccup parties keep getting bigger and bigger. A Royal Oak institution, the dance party is going to run out of venues if it keeps growing. DJ Quig and the Sugar Hiccup crew first brought their trip hop dance party to 5th Avenue Billiards and, as it grew, they moved to the next logical spot: Luna. Now the group plans on throwing one of the summer’s biggest parties inside the city’s biggest venue.

2nd Annual Charity Team Kendal Kidz Concert
This charity dinner and concert raises funds for Team Kendal Kidz, which is an organization dedicated to providing happiness and hope to children with cancer. Quietdrive is headlining the benefit concert, with Seven Letters and See Jane Rock in support. If you feel like helping kids with cancer, you can purchase the VIP balcony seating (with hors d’oeuvres) for $52 or General Admission Main Floor it for $27. Either way, a good deed will be done. Do it!
