4 Ways to Style This Spring

It’s time to ditch the boots and the sweaters and freshen and lighten up the wardrobe for spring. With so many cute new finds, we’ve narrowed it to four things you’ll need to add to your spring wardrobe, and we found them all in Royal Oak.

Neon: Biff! Bam! Pow! Electric day-glow colors are injecting a shock of color in this spring’s wardrobe. “Green, yellow, electric blue and coral are really hot,” says Abby Young, salesperson at Pitaya (211 S. Main), who suggests pairing coral with blue and neon pink and yellow with gray. Look for these new colors in acid-washed shorts, tennis skirts and tops. If you’re not bold enough to wear it on your body, pick up a pair of sunglasses or a purse for smaller zing with impact.

Long and flowing: “Things have gone from short and tight to long and flowing,” says Courtney Gula, assistant manager at P2 (306 S. Main), who sports a coral chiffony top with keyhole details in the front and back that drapes at the bottom and is layered with a matching tank, both found at the store.

Take it to the maxi: “Maxi dresses are still really big, and the prints and colors are crazy,” says Sylvia Stefanovich, owner of Rise (525 S. Washington). Designs of this year’s maxis are even more inventive, like this ruffled cotton dress by Kessley that has a tie neck halter top, coordinating floral prints and a delicate flower detail at the neck.

Get a lift: Platforms and wedges are higher than ever this spring, but if you’re concerned about giving our look a lift without worrying about falling down, we found a raised floral applique wedge made with gold-flecked fabric and jute details at Sole Sisters (325 S. Washington).
