Okay. There’s the love you have for your parents, the love you have for your spouse & children and the love you have for your stylist.
Depending on which day you’re posed this question, who you admit to loving more might startle a few people. Let’s face it, the hands you left cut and color and style your mane are very dear to you.
Stylists act in part as therapists, gurus and bff’s. So much that you’re willing to take more slack from them than you would say your teenager who keeps “forgetting” to empty the trash is his room.
So when something negatively affects the relationship you share with your stylist, it can be a tough pill to swallow, especially if you have a long history.
Usually these little bumps in the road can be smoothed over with a quick reference to the grievance under the muting hum of the blow dryer. Or, sometimes you have to write a funny jab on your check.. however your relationship works.
There are other times though, when passive aggression is major fail and you have to , dare I say, dump your stylist. Maybe because she always ignores your appointment time or she completely drowns out your requests with her quick hands and happy scissors.
Whatever the case may be, what must be done, must be done.
The easiest way to do this without any added pressure or drama is to simply leave a voicemail stating that you will be exploring other options as things have gone sour (unless they’re family).
The smart thing to do would be to make a note every time you are dissatisfied so that weighing the pros and cons will be the clearest task in all this.
Once you have made your decision, stick to it! No one can appreciate a Fickle Felecia.
If this will take a lot of contemplation on your part, have your next stylist lined up…you don’t want to have to return to your ex or see them incessantly.
Lastly, Cheer up. It’s not necessarily the end of the world and there are goo gobs of talented stylists/colorists and barbers who have open chairs and open arms.
Good Luck!
