I have a confession. I’ve never had eggnog.

As a child I was totally grossed out about the idea of drinking anything creamy that wasn’t a milkshake. Then to find out there are raw eggs holding the nog together, made it a definite no-go.

I’ve heard mixed reviews about the traditional holiday drink and I am venturing to step out of my childhood fear and give it a go this year.

Searching the web, I ran across this recipe and though I’ll never commit to making it myself (unless my future hubby requests), my interest was piqued by this recipe from piggykins via recipe4living.com.

The marshmallow and Cool Whip on the ingredients list totally did it for me!

Here goes nothing:

The Perfect Egg Nog Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 7-oz. jar marshmallow creme
  • 1 C. milk (or softened ice cream)
  • 6 eggs - one at a time, and beating well after each addition.
  • 1/4 C. rum (or 1 tsp. rum extract)
  • 1 8-oz. container Cool Whip
  • nutmeg (optional)

Directions

Blend the marshmallow creme and ice cream or milk together. Beat in eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in rum then fold in the Cool Whip. Before serving, sprinkle with nutmeg.

Worth a try?? How do you prepare egg nog?
