28 Kisses

My friend Lisa sent me a YouTube video of the new Dentyne Pure commercial. She thought it would make a great idea for a blog post. Well Lisa, seems you were right.

Dentyne Pure Gum’s commercial declares the average person has 28 first kisses in their lifetime.

TWENTY EIGHT.

Is that a shocking number to you? Too high? To low? Just right, Goldilocks?

I didn’t even raise a brow.

I’m not embarrassed to admit that I was the queen of making out. Back in the day, of course. Even when “they” thought you could contract HIV from swapping saliva, I had my tongue in some hot(and some notsohot) guys mouth and then would go home and thoroughly rinse with Listerine. Yeah, like that would solve any world health problems.

I was good at kissing. Even my pillow thought so.

WHAT?

And, I always liked kissing. It feels good, makes you smile(unless you’re with a slobberer) and you can’t get pregnant.

Twenty-eight first kisses? I will admit, there were way more than that and around 99% of them never led to second kisses.

The majority of the kisses never went further down than my neck. I had, after all, a little something called a “reputation” to protect.

I know so many people who run the gamut in their kiss number. Some say that they are WAY below the average while others probably make my kiss number seem virginal.

I have a feeling, considering how fast kids are growing up these days and first kisses are happening a lot younger, which means that the average number is, most likely, going to increase in the next few years. Which…WHOA, my kids. Oh, I can’t even wrap my head around that idea.

Honestly, I can’t even fathom my kiss number. We’ll call it “undetermined”.
