Craft beer fans and foodies unite starting tonight in downtown Farmington as the first Harvest Moon festival kicks off featuring fine wines, craft beer, mead and food pairing highlighting the tastes of the Great Lakes region and spanning the globe.
The event begins tonight from 5:30-10 at Sundquist Pavilion in Riley Park and extends for three days. The Harvest Moon Celebration offer tastings of more than 30 beers, wines and meads.
Beloved breweries are represented like Magic Hat, Kuhnhenn’s, North Peak and Dragonmead and wineries include Umberto, Bowers Harbor and Four Vines. Experts like Rex Halfpenny of Michigan Beer Guide and Wine Instructor Lee Hershey from Schoolcraft College will be onhand to answer questions and guide you through your tasting choices. Music will be provided by Daniree Duo.
Don’t forget your appetite. The food pairings menu includes everything from Sea Scallops and Herb Risotto to pair with Sauvignon Blanc and Beef Stew with Cheddar Biscuits to go with Chianti Classico. Try Asian Spice BBQ Chicken Lges with a Pinot Noir or Pretzel Bread and Bar Cheese with any beer. Creme Brulee pairs with Ice Wine while Warm Apple Cobbler goes with Vanilla Cinnamon Mead or Moscato.
Tickets to the event are $5 in advance and $8 at the door. Tastings are $10 for 8 beer taste and a mini mug or 10 wine tastes. Additional pours are $1 each. Visit www.downtownfarmington.org for details.
