A night at The Inn Place will remind you why you wanted to live in Royal Oak.  This little bar and grill, located at 917 N. Main St., is within walking distance of downtown. Karaoke Night @ The Inn Place is a special experience — one that you can have any Thursday or Saturday nights.  There are some very talented crooners . . . there are also some train wrecks!  Both are fun to watch.  The beers are cheap, the clientele is very diverse, and the staff is friendly.  The only big negative– this place is very smoky!  Cough. Cough.  (Side note . . . when will Michigan finally ban smoking in bars and restaurants, like most of the rest of the free world?)

The Inn Place Bar and Grill is a local hangout that has a clientele as diverse as the neighborhood.  The welcoming staff, friendly patrons and casual atmosphere will make you want to come back time and again.  Whether you are looking for breakfast and a Bloody Mary or a late night burger and a beer The Inn Place is a great choice. –The Inn Place

The Inn Place is open Monday to Saturday, 7:00 am to 2:00 am.  (They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner).  Sunday, Noon to 2:00 am.  The grill closes @ Midnight (half an hour later on Friday and Saturday).  Check out their menu here, burgers under $5!  There’s some recession-friendly entertainment for you!

You hit the nail on the head; the place is a smoke filled box. A bit small for my liking too… or is it too busy for my liking? Not quite sure.

Hey JR, thanks for the comment. The small/ busy part I find endearing — reminds me of a big, busy city. And it seems to make it easier to meet people as compared to one of those oversized breweries that are more common around here. Something does have to be done about the smoke, though unfortunately that’s not unique at all to The Inn Place. It’s about the same at most bars in this town/ state. Mercifully, not at Vinoteca or Town Tavern, though those places aren’t quite as FUN. The Inn Place, despite the smoke is FUN — in my book.

I LOVE the inn place :-) and recommend getting there by 9 if you want a seat and by 10 if you want to sing on a saturday!

Thanks for the comment, Amanda. (Dear Readers — you can see star-crooner Amanda above in the photos). Those are helpful tips — there definitely is a VERY LONG music queue by the end of the night . . .
